Ilene Ortiz went thrift shopping for a few Frank Sinatra records, as they reminded her of the music her mother used to play her.

However, what she found tucked inside the vinyl was breathtaking.

There were letters from the 40s; love letters between a man named Bill and a lady named Bernadean.

And with the help of the local news station, she was able to track down Bill & Bernadean's daughter, Melinda.

“I can’t believe Ilene found this,” Melinda said. “Most of their dating was through letters in the war. And that was the one thing I remember her talking about. It meant everything to get that letter. And we can’t find them. So this is the only original we would have.”

Turns out, the beautiful couple was married for 63 years until Bernadean died. Melinda was able to see exactly how in love her parents really were!

“It really hit me that we were seeing the true depth of my parents’ love that, as children, we knew was there, but you don’t hear it,” Melinda said. “Their love sets such a beautiful example of what life can be.”

“My darling, lovable, alluring Bernadean,”the letter said. “You are so lovely darling, that I often wonder how you are mine.”

Melinda returned the letter to her father Bill, who was moved to tears in remembrance of his wife who had passed five years before.
