Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson team up for new twist on iconic '9 to 5' song

Dolly Parton and Kelly Clarkson have been working 9 to 5 to bring us an amazing new reimagining of the iconic song.

The two music queens have put a new spin on the 1980 hit, which is set to be featured in the upcoming documentary, Still Working 9 To 5.

The duo have put a fresh new twist on the optimistic old-school classic - which quickly became a pop-culture feminist anthem with its high-energy melody - crooning the song as a downtempo, poignant pop ballad.

"Nobody sings like Kelly Clarkson. She makes any song come alive," said Parton about the song.

"I love her voice on 9 to 5, and I am so proud I got to sing with her on it."

Clarkson also had only good things to say about collaborating with the Jolene legend.

"I am so honoured that Dolly asked me to reimagine this iconic song with her! She is so talented, an inspiration to all women, and one of the sweetest people you will ever meet!"

The highly anticipated film will feature exclusive interviews with the Jolene singer, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dabney Coleman as they discuss the legacy of the groundbreaking film.

An official description for Still Working 9 To 5 states the documentary "examines the 40-year evolution of gender inequality and discrimination in the workplace since the 1980 release of the classic seminal comedy, 9 to 5."

Still Working 9 To 5 hits theatres September 16.
