Here are six new Kiwi blokes vying for Lexie's heart on 'The Bachelorette NZ'

Lexie Brown was revealed as New Zealand’s next bachelorette – and now we get to meet some of the Kiwi blokes who will be vying for the 31-year-old Wellingtonian’s heart.

Here are the six next contestants set to join the new season of The Bachelorette New Zealand! Do you think any of them will be the one for our gal Lexie?

Hamish Boyt

Occupation: Content Creator
Location: Whangarei
Star Sign: Aries
Age: 30

Always packed and ready to go for his next adventure, Hamish is known to his friends as ‘the travel guy’, exploring different parts of Aotearoa and the world.

With Covid-19 firmly grounding him in NZ, he’s swapped his camera for a suit and is heading for the mansion.

Hamish is a talented photographer. You may recognise him from Instagram, where he shares some of his incredible scenic pictures with his 60,000 followers!

When asked what his biggest flaw is, he’d go with impatient and having to wait for things.

Tell us about your dating history:

I have had one girlfriend 6 years ago that was a 4-year relationship. Other than that I have been travelling the world and not in a single destination longer the 3 months, and also just didn’t meet anyone I connected with properly.

What do you think is your best quality in a relationship?

I am loyal and thoughtful and always looking to keep the relationship fun full of laughs and adventure.

Ben Masara

Occupation: Registered Nurse
Location: Dunedin
Star Sign: Cancer
Age: 26

Being a nurse makes dating hard for Ben, as he doesn’t work the classic 9-5 job and often works weekends.

After a suggestion from his friend Ben applied for the show, and now he’s heading to the mansion!

When it comes to his dream girl, Ben’s hoping to find someone outgoing and driven, and someone he can trust and build a relationship with. Plus he wouldn’t mind a romantic soul!

What do you think is your best quality in a relationship?

I have the patience of a saint and I am very empathetic! In a relationship it is important to be able to understand each other’s feelings and compromise to tackle hardships you face together.

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?

On Valentine’s Day I made my ex a picnic and went and spent the day at the beach. I also bought her a bouquet of roses, chocolates and made a Valentine’s card expressing my love for her.

Itay Dom

Occupation: Electrical Engineer
Location: Auckland
Star Sign: Cancer
Age: 27

Comedian Itay is hoping that he’ll have our bachelorette laughing out loud, when he makes his first impression on the red carpet!

Although he’s never taken the love languages quiz, he’s quick to say his love vowel is ‘U’.

Will Itay’s refreshingly honest approach have him winning over the bachelorette, or will it have him finding the letters ‘C U’ in the alphabet?

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?

Gave a girl a label maker for her birthday. But she didn’t want to put a label on it.

Tell us about your dating history:

I have had a mixed bag of dates. I’ve had some long term one-night stands. I’ve had some domestics with international women. Dating can get tiring though. Don’t you ever wish that your last girl was your last girl?

Dave Borrie

Occupation: Radio Presenter
Location: Dunedin
Star Sign: Scorpio
Age: 25

After spending five and a half years in Dunedin studying, Dave graduated with a MSc in Coastal Geomorphology.

Originally from Cromwell, Dave’s stuck around in Dunedin to focus on music, where he’s currently a radio presenter at the local Uni radio station.

Always ready for a laugh, Dave describes himself as someone who’s ‘going through life with a smile on his face’.

When it comes to his romantic side, he’s all about words of affirmation, and being able to express yourself is something he’s after from his partner.

What would be your spirit animal?

Probably a giraffe – they’re so mysteriously tall, and what’s behind those big, beautiful eyes of theirs? No one knows. If all the giraffes are taken it’d be the mighty, mighty Kererū.

What would be your go-to karaoke song?

Monster by Kanye West – no question about it. Nicki Minaj’s verse doesn’t stand a chance when I get on the mic.

Josh Nielsen

Occupation: Plumber/Gasfitter
Location: Auckland
Star Sign: Pisces
Age: 32

Things are already looking good for Josh and our bachelorette – their favourite romcom movie is Crazy, Stupid, Love!

Originally from Auckland, Josh spent five years in Palmerston North as part of the New Zealand Army before moving back to the supercity.

When it comes to dating, Josh loves to surprise his someone special with getaways, beachside dinners or picnics with a view. The reaction on their face is really rewarding to him, which makes sense as quality time is his love language!

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?

On the down-low I arranged and surprised my partner at the time with a getaway to Hawaii, she didn’t have any idea where we were going until it was time to jump on the plane.

If you were going to be known for something, what would you hope it would be?

It might sound lame but I think I’d just like to be known for being there for the people in my life and being a good dude.

Paul Patterson

Occupation: Chef
Location: Waiheke Island
Star Sign: Sagittarius
Age: 35

With his luscious locks and fantastic facial hair, Paul is hoping to impress on the red carpet!

In 2020 Paul was set to open a restaurant in New York. With Covid-19 changing those plans, Paul returned to New Zealand and luckily for us – to the bachelorette mansion.

With a pad in Paris, Paul is a catch for anyone who loves travelling and adventure!

Tell us about your dating history:

I’ve had a bit of a mix. Certain relationships have meant the world to me, others were just a bit of fun. It wasn’t necessarily about the length of time, more about the connection or intensity.

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?

Moved countries after knowing a girl for 24 hours. Packed up my life, chased her across the world.
