Do you have a special shower ritual? Maybe you like using a fancy shampoo or a delicious coffee scrub. And of course, there's nothing better than wrapping yourself up in a warm and fluffy towel afterward, right? But have you ever thought about how often you should wash your towels?

Turns out, if you want to avoid nasty bacteria and skin irritations, you should swap out your towel for a clean one every three uses according to Healthline. That means if you shower twice a day, you'll need a new towel every day and a half. If you prefer to use a fresh towel every time you shower, that's great too! Just keep in mind that it may not be the most eco-friendly option.

But towels aren't the only thing you need to keep clean. Your gym sweat towel should be washed after every use, and your hand towels should be changed out every couple of days (or at least once a week). And don't forget about your face or washcloths – they should be washed after every use too!

According to Healthline, "you have 19 million skin cells and 650 sweat glands in every inch of your body" and a fresh towel is one of the easiest ways to avoid the pick and mix of micro-organisms living in your towel.

When it's time to wash your towels, let them air dry before tossing them in the laundry hamper. And make sure you don't overload the washing machine so that the detergent, water, and movement can work together to get your towels nice and clean.

So there you have it – everything you need to know about keeping your towels clean and fresh. Happy showering!
