Highly anticipated 'Fourth Wing' TV series has just cast its lead stars
Fans of the bestselling fantasy phenomenon finally know who'll be bringing Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson to life on screen.
After months of fan speculation, Prime Video has officially found the stars of its upcoming Fourth Wing adaptation.
Esther McGregor (We Were Liars, Babygirl) has been cast as Violet Sorrengail, while Emilio Sakraya (Those About to Die, Warrior Nun, One Piece) will take on the role of fan-favourite Xaden Riorson.
If you're not already deep in the Fourth Wing obsession, here's why this is a big deal.
Rebecca Yarros' 2023 novel became a global publishing sensation, kicking off the hugely successful Empyrean fantasy series. The story follows Violet, a young woman who dreams of becoming a scribe, only to be ordered by her formidable mother to join the deadly dragon rider programme at Basgiath War College instead.
There, she crosses paths with Xaden, a powerful and mysterious rider with a reputation that makes him just as dangerous as the dragons themselves.
The enemies-to-lovers romance between Violet and Xaden has become one of the most talked-about relationships in modern fantasy fiction, helping turn the books into a worldwide phenomenon and a social media favourite.

The series adaptation has been in development for several years, with Prime Video officially greenlighting the project earlier this year. Meredith Averill, known for her work on The Haunting of Hill House and Locke & Key, is attached as showrunner, while Lisa Joy will direct the premiere episode.
McGregor is no stranger to Prime Video, having recently appeared in We Were Liars and the upcoming Life Is Strange adaptation. Meanwhile, Sakraya has built a strong international fanbase through roles in Warrior Nun, Tribes of Europa and Netflix's live-action One Piece universe.
The casting announcement is one many readers have been waiting for, especially as production gears up on what could become Prime Video's next major fantasy franchise.
Now the only question is: do they look like the Violet and Xaden you've imagined while reading?
