In 1947, Charles and Frances Hamlin spent their honeymoon at the Westin Poinsett Hotel.

At the time, the room was only $8 for the night (that's quite a lot in those days).

Charles, now Reverend Charles, a former Navy veteran, and Frances, a devoted wife and mother, don’t have any photos from their wedding day. All they have is that $8 receipt.

After 68 years of marriage, the couple decided to return to the hotel that would now cost around $250 to $300 per night. However, when John Geddes, the sales director, heard that the couple still had their original $8 receipt, he knew he decided not to charge them a single cent more.

“Just for fun we’re charging $8. We wanted to replicate that as part of the experience,” Geddes said. “It’s very neat. It was kind of a no-brainer for us to recreate the magical night.”
