It turns this Kiwi plant store is giving away hundreds of plants absolutely free

Plant lovers, your dreams are about to come true!

Kiwi plant shop Outside In makes custom greenery displays for the hospitality industry and stores, often for malls all around Auckland.

Now they've been stuck with too many beautiful plants due to Covid-19 that they want to give away to Kiwi homes!

As a lot of plants have been returned to the store due to NZ's lockdown, Outside In needs to make room for new plants and displays but don't want to throw them away.

"If they've come back we don't want to throw them away, we want them to go to a good home.

"These plants are too big, we've got a bunch of new ones coming on that we need to make space for." Creative director Ryan McQuerry told Stuff NZ.

So they're giving them to you for free!

The unwanted plants will be available for pick up outside the company's offices in Penrose on Sunday, and you can follow them on Instagram to keep up to date.

To make sure they can share the plants with as many people as possible, each person will be able to take one plant for themselves, and one plant to gift to a friend.

UPDATE: We’re so pumped that there are so many likeminded plant lovers out there! We’ve had an overwhelming uptake on this offer and have had to adjust how the fulfilment of the giveaway works. Our goal is to get as many plants as possible into your hands but we want to do so in a way that is safe under Alert Level 2, avoiding any crowd-like situations. With that in mind, please do not turn up to our premises asking for plants - we’re operating the giveaway in a structured way so please strictly observe the following: - From next week, we’ll be giving away 100 plants a day, until we run out. - Each weekday at 8am, we’ll be releasing an Instagram post and the first 50 people to respond will be able to collect two plants that same day, one for them and one for a friend. - We’ll PM those first fifty people with the location and times for pick up, including guidelines for safe pick up. We are so looking forward to getting our plants rehomed and helping you bring the outside in #thegreatplantgiveaway

The only catch? McQuerry is asking anyone who takes a plant baby to share a photo of its new home with #StayPlanted.

The hashtag represents a new global campaign centred around how beneficial greenery is during quarantine.
