A Bay of Plenty school has enlisted the help of New Zealand hip hop giant Savage to get more children to read.

Arataki School in Mount Maunganui has re-made the hit song Freaks into a song about reading.

In a statement on his Facebook page Savage says he supports the video one thousand percent and takes his hat off to teachers who go the extra mile to capture the attention of young ones.

The video has been shared by hundreds on social media and is rapidly increasing in views!

Received a request from a teacher from Arataki School in Mt Maunganui for permission to do their own version of "freaks"...
