Meet 2022's World's Ugliest Dog winner, unfortunate-looking pooch Mr Happy Face

We all know our own dog is the cutest little fluff-ball in the world.

… But have you ever wondered which dog is the ugliest?

Well, wonder no more because this unfortunate-looking pooch has just been dubbed 2022 World’s Ugliest Dog.

Mr Happy Face, a 17-year-old tongue-lolling Chinese Crested-Chihuahua mix - who sort of looks like one of the monsters from Gremlins - took the crown in this year’s official World’s Ugliest Dog competition.

Owner Janeda Banelly explained that she found Mr Happy Face in a shelter in Arizona after sadly suffering years of abuse, neglect, "tumours and multiple conditions and could have possibly been inbred."

Janeda says that the day Mr Happy Face "hobbled up" to her at the shelter she "vowed that he would be so loved that he would never remember how awful his previous life had been."

While the title of World’s Ugliest Dog may seem like an insult, Janeda says she thinks it is "an honour" and hopes that Mr Happy Face will "help humans realize that even old dogs need love and a family, too."

Congratulations Mr Happy Face!
