Shonda Rhimes’ new Netflix series is like 'Gossip Girl' set in the Regency era

She’s given us Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, and now Shonda Rhimes is back with a new juicy series that we can’t wait to get into.

Set to debut on Netflix next month, Bridgerton gives us Gossip Girl vibes set against a Regency Era backdrop.

The show is based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling romance series and centres on the influential Bridgerton family’s eldest daughter Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), and what happens when she meets the desirable but rebellious bachelor Duke of Hasting (Regé-Jean Page).

The show also explores the dramatic lives of those of Britain’s 19th-century high society and the mysterious one among them, known only as Lady Whistledown - who is voiced by none other than Julie Andrews - threatens to uncover all the juicy rumours and scandals they can.

Bridgerton also stars Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Barker, Adjoa Andoh and more. Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, Ruth Gemmell, Bessie Carter, Harriet Cains, Polly Walker, Ben Miller, Sabrina Bartlett, Martins Imhangbe and Lorraine Ashbourne.

It’s sure to be everyone’s new addiction! Check out the first teaser trailer above.

Bridgerton will be available to stream on Netflix from December 25.
