The first optical illusion of 2017 has landed - and it's this piece of ham

Over the weekend, the internet was deep in discussion over... a slice of ham, apparently.

The image took social media users by storm after it was uploaded to Reddit.

At first glance, it appears to be a blurry photo of ham. But if you look closer at the photo, you'll see the wood grain table and plastic container aren't out of focus.

This is because the meat was sliced so thin that it became semi-translucent, giving the illusion that the ham is blurry.

Some Reddit users who commented on the thread said looking at the image actually gave them motion sickness.
