Happy 10th Birthday, Princess Charlotte!
To mark the occasion, Kensington Palace released a brand-new photo of Princess Charlotte—taken by none other than her mum, the Princess of Wales. Snapped on an iPhone during a family hike in Cumbria, Charlotte beams at the camera while sitting on a grassy hill, looking every bit the outdoorsy adventurer with her rucksack and wind-blown hair.
Charlotte, third in line to the throne, is known for her love of dancing (especially ballet and tap!) and her confident, cheeky personality. She attends Lambrook School in Berkshire and, according to royal watchers, has a knack for keeping her siblings, George and Louis, in check.
Born on May 2, 2015, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana carries names that honour both her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her late grandmother, Princess Diana. Many say she’s inherited her dad’s dazzling smile, too.
Her mum, Kate, has often spoken about the importance of nature and getting kids outdoors. In a recent visit to the Lake District, she shared how nature has been a place of peace during her cancer recovery—something clearly passed down to her daughter, who looks right at home in the hills.
This sweet birthday photo follows adorable footage of little brother Prince Louis leaping off logs for his own birthday. One thing’s for sure—this royal family knows how to keep birthdays full of joy and personality!
