Katie Holmes and Cuba Gooding Jr are the latest big names to play a role in Air New Zealand's safety videos.

Launching this morning, the video, dubbed 'Fantastical Journey', features a dreamy soundtrack by Gin Wigmore and the Hollywood stars appear to play Gods.

Air New Zealand General Manager of Global Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams said the new video was built to showcase more of New Zealand to the world.

"Following the success of our last safety video Summer of Safety which was shot in Northland and has had more than 7.6 million views, we wanted to showcase more of our country's cities and regions in our next safety video instalment to help encourage visitors to those areas and drive economic benefit," she said.

"Our safety videos have earned a global reputation so it'll be great to have eyes from around the world on more of our stunning landscapes and attractions."

Air NZ is known for nabbing big name stars for its high profile safety videos that air before takeoff.

Recent clips have used Bear Grylls, Sports Illustrated swimsuit models, Richard Simmons and Rachel Hunter.

Collectively, the clips have generated more than 108 million views.
