Powerful animated story of how a 16-year-old became a father has gone viral

A powerful video telling the story of how a teenage boy became a father has gone viral online.

Posted by the channel YouTube Actually Happened – which "gives people the chance to have their personal stories turned into animations and shared around the world" - the video, titled I became a father at 16. I was so naïve! has received more than 6 million views since it was first uploaded.

The clever animation shows Louis' story in his own words of how he found out that he was going to become a father at just 16-years-old after it was revealed that his girlfriend and childhood friend Jasmine had fallen pregnant.

"My name is Louis, and I have something to tell you. Ok. My girlfriend got pregnant. There is nothing unusual about that, right? But the thing is that I'm 16 years old. So… Hurray?" the animation starts.

However, it turns out there is an unexpected twist in Louis' story, after (spoilers) his girlfriend eventually fesses up that he is, in fact, not the biological father.

This isn’t the only video Actually Happened has put out, with the channel sharing dozens upon dozens of animations since their channel – which now has 2.9M subscribers – first launched in May 2018.

Some of their other intense titles include: My neighbours lost their son and they tried to take me from my parents and My stepmother hated me so I had to move out.

Actually Happened is similar to long-running YouTube channel Storybooth - started in 2015 - which also animates real user provided stories.

While it's hard to know how real these stories actually are - as the stories contributed are from fans - they are moving nonetheless!
