Anyone who suffers from acne knows how hard it can be to live with.

Not only are you self-conscious or even embarrassed of your appearance, but the little bumps can be so painful.

So instead of spending a ton of money on expensive "miracle" skin creams to combat the skin condition, why not give this natural and cheaper option a go?

According to one Reddit user, who just shared an unbelievable before-and-after photo, the cure for acne is a few dollops of good ol' honey.

Yep, that's right. The answer to all your skin woes can be found in your kitchen cupboard.

"I've struggled with an outbreak of facial sebhorreic [sic] dermatitis since April," the user writes.

"After washing with a mild cleanser, I massaged a thin layer of raw honey into the affected area and left it for three hours, simple as that," she wrote.

"I cannot believe how quickly and relatively painlessly this worked. I plan to continue the treatment every other or every third day until all traces of seb derm are gone, and then to continue weekly for six months, as the study indicates, to prevent it from coming back."

For those of you who are a bit hesitant to believe honey really works, there's actually some scientific proof behind its magical powers.

Dermatologist Kavita Mariwalla says: "Honey works to make inflammatory acne look less angry because it has an osmotic effect on the skin—it can draw out [excess fluid] and help reduce inflammation."

Furthermore, Annie Chiu, a dermatologist, says to make sure you use raw honey.

"Most popular brands of honey are treated in some way. These processed honeys are very unlikely to work [in treating acne] because the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties are destroyed in the processing," she says. "It's best to find an all-natural, raw, unprocessed, and unheated honey with no added ingredients, ideally from organic hives that have not been treated with chemicals or antibiotics."
