Armed Police At 'Dispute' In Seacliff, Dunedin

Armed police are at the scene of what one witness has described as a "dispute" in Seacliff from which a person has been taken to hospital in a "very serious condition".

Detectives and armed uniformed officers are in Coast Rd in the quiet town north of Dunedin.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said police were dealing with an incident in which a firearm might be involved.

He would not elaborate on the matter at present.

A resident at the scene said the matter involved a dispute.

St John have confirmed one person has been taken to Dunedin Hospital in a very serious condition.

Paramedics remain at the scene and an armed officer was heard calling out to the occupants of a Coast Rd address.
