Fog is causing some delays at Auckland Airport this morning.
An Auckland Airport spokesman said flights had been affected by fog since about 1.30am.
At this stage, approximately 16 regional flights had been cancelled and six had been delayed. A flight from Christchurch was also delayed this morning, he said.
Some international flights had also been affected.
A flight from Rarotonga was diverted to Christchurch this morning, and another from outside of Hong Kong was delayed, but had since landed, the spokesman said.
On Twitter, Auckland Airport was warning its passengers that delays, or even cancellations, could be expected.
MetService meteorologist Stephen Glassey said "pretty thick fog" had cloaked Auckland Airport since 1am.
"It's caused by high humidity and light winds over Auckland overnight."
He said MetService expected the fog to clear towards 11am.
"After the fog clears we are forecasting a mainly fine day for Auckland."
