After Bowie passed away in January, Coldplay revealed that they once asked to collaborate with him but he turned them down, arguing that the song in question "wasn't very good".
Didn't take any glow off their fandom for Bowie, infact Coldplay drummer Will Champion said "When you have any involvement in music he was one of the points of reference for absolutely everything, for genres and for how to be a rockstar or a popstar or whatever it was. Completely defining that. So for musicians it's quite disorienting."
Putting some of that respect into song, Chris Martin and Jimmy Fallon recorded a cover of his 1971 hit "Life on Mars" backstage of Jimmys show.
