How Richie McCaw Found Love With The Help of Social Media

All Black great Richie McCaw and his fiancée Gemma Flynn have a modern day romance story.

In McCaw’s new film Chasing Great, the Black Sticks midfielder reveals how the retired ABs captain made the moves on her.

She says McCaw messaged her on Facebook saying he was “sorry for her loss in a hockey game and that he knew exactly what it feels like to lose a big match”.

Flynn admits she saw the message but forgot to write back because she was busy on an international hockey tour.

Flirting with anyone, let alone an All Black, was far from her mind.

Flynn eventually messaged him back two weeks later. They got chatting and things kind of kicked off from there.

In the movie, released this week, Flynn says McCaw is a simple man and that’s what she likes about him.

“The extraordinary thing about Richie McCaw is that he’s completely ordinary,” she says in the film.

Chasing Great is in cinemas today.
