Kate Hudson announces the arrival of her first baby with Danny Fujikawa

Kate Hudson has welcomed her first baby with her boyfriend Danny Fujikawa.

The 39-year-old actress gave birth to a baby girl, who she has named Rani Rose Husdon Fujikawa.

Taking to Instagram Kate - who also mother to sons 14-year-old Ryder and 7-year-old Bingham - explained the sweet meaning behind the unique name Rani, which is pronounced 'Ronnie'.

"We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa," Kate announced.

"Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honour."

"Everyone is doing well and happy as can be," she continued, "Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back."

According to the website nameberry.com, the name Rani means 'queen' or 'lady' as well as 'she is singing'. The name is also of Hindi, Sanskrit origins.
