Simon Cowell Chooses to Send Wrong Contestant Home in X Factor Blunder

Gifty Louise, a contestant currently being mentored by Simon Cowell on this season's X Factor, was booted off last night. 

Fan-favourite Gifty and Four of Diamonds were left in the bottom two, going head to head in the sing off. 

Gifty was sent home, saying 'I don't know' when asked by host Dermot O'Leary what went wrong. 

Simon then grabbed the mic from O'Leary, saying: "It was my mistake Gifty as I gave you that song." However, only moments before, Simon made an incredible mistake when he wrongly decided to send his own act home, instead of the girl group [watch the video above].

Simon corrected himself but it was too late, Sharon, Louis and Nicole wanted to save the Four of Diamonds - and sent the singer home.
