'Barbie' movie star Margot Robbie gives Barbie Dreamhouse tour and it's everything we hoped for

Ahead of the release of the upcoming Barbie movie, Architectural Digest has given us a sneak peek into the world of the iconic doll thanks to a house tour video like no other.

As you may have expected, there is a lot of pink. So much pink that it caused a worldwide paint shortage of the particular fuchsia pink hue during filming!

Everything is pink, from a pink fridge, toaster, stove, and dining room table in the kitchen, to a magical Clueless-style pink wardrobe that houses all of Barbie’s clothing and accessories.

Director Greta Gerwig - who worked on films such as Lady Bird and Little Women - said “I wanted to capture what was so ridiculously fun about the Dreamhouses. We sat with all these different kinds of pinks and we were like, ‘What is the pink? How do the pinks interact?’ When I was a girl, I wanted the brightest things.”

But it's not all pink, there are many nods to the dollhouses that we grew up playing with - from the kitchen's mix of decals and real food to the larger-than-life hairbrushes and toothbrushes.

The house itself was influenced by 1950s and early 1960s design, a nod to the original Barbie doll being released in 1959, and it immediately conjures up the feeling of a mid-century Palm Springs home.

It’s safe to say that it’s everything we could have hoped for and more.

There are so many fun features we've spotted in this seven-minute video, we can't wait to see what other secrets are hiding in the Dreamhouse.

Barbie will be in theatres on July 20, 2023.
