It turns out red wine is good for your oral hygiene!

Let's be honest... we don't really need a proper excuse to drink wine.

But if you were in need of one, look no further...

Because apparently the chemicals found in red wine can help in the fight against tooth decay and gum disease!

That's right, a new study has found that wine contains abundant and structurally diverse polyphenols, that are rich in antioxidants properties, and may not only be good for the colon and heart but also protect oral health.

For the study, Spanish researchers looked at how two types of polyphenols found in wine reacted to bacteria responsible for tooth decay and cavities.

The results found the wine polyphenols and extracts all reduced the bacteria's ability to stick to the cells, but the polyphenols - caffeic and p-coumaric acids - were more effective.
