Kelly Clarkson files for divorce from her husband after seven years of marriage

Kelly Clarkson has separated from her husband after seven years of marriage.

The 38-year-old superstar singer and talks show host filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock, 43, citing "irreconcilable differences", Us Weekly confirmed.

Papers were first submitted earlier this month to a Los Angeles courthouse and the case is classified as "dissolution with minor children."

The Since You’ve Been Gone hitmaker tied the knot in 2013 with Brandon - who is also her manager - and have since welcomed two children, River Rose, 5, and Remington Alexander, 4.

Brandon also has two children,  Savannah, 18, and Seth, 13 of his own from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth.

In a recent interview with Gordon Ramsay on The Kelly Clarson Show, Kelly revealed that she wanted to have more children, while her husband did not.

"Oh my gosh! Do not do this to me. I so want another child, and my husband is like: 'No! We have four!'" she said at the time.

The Blast has also reported that The Voice coach - who is worth an estimated $45 million - is seeking for the couple’s prenup agreement to be "enforced" and asked that they share legal and physical custody of the two children they have together.

The split comes amid the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw the former couple had been in lockdown with their family at a private ranch in Montana.

Throughout Kelly has been very open about their relationship, including their sex life.

In a 2017 People magazine interview Kelly said: "I never felt like, honesty, sexually attracted to anybody before him.”

"And I'm not downing my exes. You know, everybody's different. But there was something about him...I honestly thought I was asexual—I'd never been turned on like that in my whole life."

At the moment Kelly has yet to publicly comment on the divorce, but she can pour the heartbreak of her marriage ending into new music.
