Nicole Kidman looks unrecognisable as Lucille Ball in first official trailer for 'Being the Ricardos'

Do you love Lucy?

Then get ready for Being the Ricardos, because Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem have transformed into one of the most famous couples in comedy in the new trailer for the upcoming film.

Set during one week of production of their classic '50s sitcom I Love Lucy, the drama follows funny-woman Lucille Ball (Kidman) and her husband/co-star Desi Arnaz (Bardem) as they grapple with creative tension and marital woes.

In the movie's first official trailer the unrecognisable Oscar-winning Australian actress takes centre stage, donning facial prosthetics and a curly red wig.

The two-minute-long clip shows the famous couple as they struggle with everything from flubbed lines and extramarital affairs to the FBI's investigation into Ball's political ties.

The movie has the full approval of the couple's real-life daughter, Lucie Arnaz, who called the film "amazing."

"Nicole Kidman became my mother's soul," Arnaz said. "She crawled into her head. I don't know how you do that. She cared very deeply about this part and it shows."

Lucy and Desi were married in 1940 and later split in 1960.

Being the Ricardos is due out in theatres on December 10, prior to hitting Prime Video on December 21.
