Who's on the Pokemon Go buzz?!
It seems like EVERYONE is.
Kiwis are hoping to catch them all in Niantic's newest app which mixes the real world with the virtual reality of the Pokemon world.
If you're unfamiliar with the app here's how it works:
The design of the game encourages players to move around outside.
The map on the phone's screen depicts real roads, parks and bodies of water around you.
As you walk around, your avatar will move with you, and when you find a Pokemon on your map, tapping on it will initiate an encounter.
The craze has taken off and it's come with some weird and wonderful consequences...
First of all, it's bringing people together:
The streets of Sydney were taken over by hundreds of people glued to their phones as they captured Pokemon monsters in a battle to "Catch 'Em All".
Just days after new app Pokemon GO launched in Australia, hundreds of Pokefans joined together on Sunday to find their favourite pocket monsters throughout Sydney.

Along with causing a number of injuries, it's actually helping people embrace exercise!
People are walking for kilometres each day to "catch 'em all", which is actually a really good thing!
One Reddit user, a 320lb man who doesn't like to bike revealed:
"I just spent the last hour riding my bike throughout my neighbourhood looking for Pokémon. Best part, it didn't even feel like working out. Much better experience than just trying to use a Kinect lol...So, I'm sweaty, and work is gonna suck tomorrow with sore legs, but I had a lot of fun. It really felt like I was a part of the Pokémon world."
It's also helping people find LOVE!
Redditor UnityTreeSavior’s story of love is currently sitting pretty at the top of the Pokémon thread on Reddit:
"I was walking around town after dinner, trying to hatch my eggs. But instead of hatching eggs (for some reason, my walks didn't register. oh well), I caught a few Pidgeys and one Eevee, nothing special. I was about to start walking back home then some girl asked, "hey, are you playing Pokémon GO too?" Then we just talked about Pokémon...the important thing is that I am meeting her again tomorrow! I asked her out on a date and she said yes! Thank you Pokémon GO!"
One Dad played it while his wife was in labour...
We're not sure we condone this story! But it really does show the Pokemon Go addiction is real. He even shared a picture to Imgur:

Australian players tried to invade a police station to catch a Sandshrew:
On the day the game was launched, the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services in Australia, who’d realised that their Darwin Police Station featured as a Pokéstop, posted this friendly reminder to their Facebook page:
The game is also helping people in hospital, going through treatments such as chemotherapy:
Redditor chubbshoozer said that “in the middle of my chemo treatment, the homie Psyduck decided to sit in the chair and hangout with me”, posting this photo:

There have also been some electronic casualties:
Here we have Martin, an aspiring trainer. After spotting a wild Charmander on the road, he asked his friends for help in catching it:
But we think Martin may have misunderstood, and he actually ended up throwing his phone...

And the weirdest, most morbid one of them all... this girl in the US found a dead body in search for her Pokemon:
Nineteen-year-old Shayla Wiggins, from Wyoming, was told to find a Pokemon in a natural water source but instead found a man's corpse.
"I was walking towards the bridge along the shore when I saw something in the water," she told County 10 news.
"I had to take a second look and I realised it was a body."

Shayla, who's living in a trailer park for the summer with her mum, said she'd jumped over a fence to get to the Pokemon shown on her map.
