Back in August 2002, five-year-old Julian Hernandez vanished from his home in Alabama - he was reported missing by his mother after his father left a note saying he’d taken the little boy.

Over the next 12 years, Julian's Mother continued to search for her son, with no success. Meanwhile, Julian continued living — reportedly happy, healthy, and normal with his biological father in Ohio, who changed his name and assumed a false identity.

In early 2015, the 18-yr-old tried to fill out his University application but his social security number didn’t match his name. So the budding student sought help from a school counselor, who discovered Julian was listed as a missing person by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Julian learned he was abducted as a child, by his Father. His Mother was overjoyed to be reunited with her son.

In April of this year, Julian asked the judge to keep his father out of prison, and said he forgave him.

He said growing up without a mother was painful, “but taking him away from me is doing the same thing all over again.”
