There is bound to be the occasional advert that causes you to roll your eyes or tut at the telly, but they have nothing on these vintage marketing ploys.
According to the Daily Mail, a series of retro adverts, shared on Imgur and sourced from historical publications, have revealed the bizarre and extremely offensive posters of the past.
In many cases, it is hard to believe the products in the bulletins ever existed, due to the fact they are either extremely outdated or plain illegal.
One notice advises customers complaining of dental problems to invest in "cocaine toothache drops" accompanied by an illustration of two children.
In other cases, the campaigns are simply extremely offensive with many carrying sexist slogans.
However offensive they may be, they sure are a sign of how far we have come.
