This is the actor set to play a young Robbie Williams in his upcoming biopic 'Better Man'

Filming has begun on the upcoming Robbie Williams biopic, and now, the actor set to play a younger version of the pop icon has finally been announced.

Introducing, Jonno Davies!

The English-born actor - who has movie credits such as Kingsman: The Secret Service and Ben Hur – will step into the shoes of the Angels hitmaker for the film Better Man, which is being directed by The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey.

Taking to Instagram Jonno wrote: "I’m playing Robbie Williams in his musical biopic Better Man, alongside an incredible cast and the legend himself; all beautifully directed by Michael Gracey. Bloody hell".

The news comes after Robbie announced that he will be the one playing the older version of himself in the movie musical.

"I know who will play me when I am older. You're looking at him," the 48-year-old star said according to The Sun.

Better Man is set to show the highs and lows of Robbie William’s life and musical career from his early days in Take That until now.

Meanwhile, Robbie joked the biopic is a measure of revenge after missing out on the lead role in Gracey's musical blockbuster The Greatest Showman, which instead went to Hugh Jackman.

He recalled: "Michael comes over to my house and shows me all these pictures and says, 'I am making this new movie called The Greatest Showman'.

"In my brain, I am going, 'Oh yeah. Go on. I'm in. I'll play him'. And he is like, 'I have got one question to ask you'. And I am like, 'Here it comes'.

"'Will you phone Hugh Jackman and tell him he should do it?' I thought, 'You b******.' Anyway, he is making it up by directing my movie."

Robbie admitted he's delighted to get to work with Michael, and he didn't even let the director "get to the end of the sentence" before saying yes to the offer.

He quipped: "It could have been warning to do a turd on the table and I would have been, 'Yeah.' "

In the film, Take That's Gary Barlow will be played by Anatomy Of A Scandal star Jake Simmance, while Liam Head stars as bandmate Howard Donald, Jesse Hyde plays Mark Owen and Chase Vollenweider has been cast as Jason Orange.

Steve Pemberton, Damon Herriman, Kate Mulvany, and Alison Steadman will also star in the film.
