This Is The Moment A Lion Was Set Free After 20 Years Chained Up In An Illegal Travelling Circus

This was the wonderful moment a mountain lion called Mufasa was released back into the wild after 20 long years in one of the worst kinds of captivity. He worked for an illegal roaming circus in Peru but, living chained in a pickup truck, he wasn’t allowed to do any roaming of his own.

However Animal Defenders International organised a dramatic raid and then held an eight-hour armed standoff with the circus owners. But riot police and a public prosecutor came to Mufasa's rescue and he was cut free from his chains. When he was ready, Animal Defenders International released him back into the Peruvian forest where he belongs.
