Watch Sam Smith perform spine-tingling cover of Coldplay’s emotional hit 'Fix You'

Sam Smith has got us right in the feels with his latest performance.

The British singer took on Coldplay’s hit single Fix You and his live version is nothing short of stunning.

"I love this song, and as soon as I heard it I was just reminded again of how much of a classic it is," Sam said of the cover. "I've never actually seen Chris Martin perform this live, but I really want to, because I've fallen in love with this song after singing it."

The video of the performance has earned more than 780K views across YouTube and Instagram with fans praising Sam’s rendition as "beautiful".

"This gave me chills Sam took it to another level!," one fan wrote, while another added: "The amount of emotion they have in their voice while still having so much control is so impressive. [They are] my favourite singer."

We’re not crying, you’re crying!

The cover was first recorded for the iHeartRadio Living Room Concert Series to raise money for those on the front line of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In March Sam revealed that their upcoming album – which was originally scheduled to be released in May – would be pushed back.

The How Do You Sleep? hitmaker explained at the time that the title of the album, To Die For, no longer felt right and that they would continue to work on it.

Sam did reassure fans that the new album would be released in 2020 but did not mention a specific date.

"There will be an album this year, I promise!" they wrote on Instagram. "But until then, I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months, which I'm incredibly excited about. Thank you for always being by my side and for your understanding and patience. I always want to do right by you. Always."
