Proposing to the one you love is supposed to be a romantic occasion - but sometimes they don't go as smoothly as you'd like.
This is the case for on man who botched the marriage proposal after he accidentally dropped the diamond ring into a pond.
Seth Dixon, who was popping the question to his girlfriend Ruth Salas on a bridge cross over a pond - lovely setting, right?
Unfortunately, during the big moment, Seth - bended knee - lost his grip on the expensive bling and it fell through the cracks of the wooden bridge into the water below.
"We freaked out," Ruth told The Kansas City Star.
"It ping-ponged from one plank to another. You could hear a little plop."
The couple even enlisted the help of friends to try to find the ring but to no avail.
"“It’s been a roller coaster of emotions, to be honest,” says Ruth.
"Honestly, I’m happy and excited that we’re finally engaged. Just sad I don’t have a ring to show for it."
