Watch the stunning first trailer for Aretha Franklin Respect biopic starring Jennifer Hudson

First, she blew us away in the 2006 film Dreamgirls, now Jennifer Hudson is back for a little respect!

The powerhouse singer and actress is now set to take on the role of Aretha Franklin in the upcoming biopic Respect and based off the first sneak peek, unveiled at the BET Awards this week, it looks stunning!

The teaser trailer shows Jennifer singing Aretha’s most iconic hit in front of giant neon letters that spell out "respect".

It also shows clips from the film, documenting the singer’s remarkable rise to fame.

Respect also stars Marc Maron, Mary J. Blige, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Queen Latifah, Tate Donovan, Tituss Burgess and Sky Dakota Turner.

The movie is directed by Liesl Tommy – known for her work on Dolly Parton's Heartstrings, Insecure, The Walking Dead, and Jessica Jones - and features Aretha Franklin herself – who passed away at age 76 in 2018 after battling pancreatic cancer - as a producer on the film.

Respect is set to hit cinemas in January 2021, and we cannot wait!
