A woman who was missing for a decade and presumed dead has turned up in an internet cafĂ© in China.Â
She left home when she was around 14 years old after an argument with her parents. She was finally found by police officers after they conducted a routine check at an internet cafe in the early hours of Friday (Nov 20) morning.
She has been nicknamed Xiao Yun and now at the age of 24, her story has finally been told. It turns out that she's a massive fan of the multiplayer first-person shooter game CrossFire. She's literally been playing it for ten years and living in the cafĂ©s.Â
Xiao Yun relied heavily on handouts from members of public, however she did occasionally work as a cashier in some of the cafĂ©s to tide her over.Â
She was fined ÂŁ5000 and her parents were contacted so that they could be reunited.Â
Her mother spoke to the Qianjiang Evening News about how she never lost hope. In fact, she had not changed her phone number since Xiao Yun left home in the hope that she would contact her.
"I have a stubborn personality and a short temper, so I used to scold her. But it's already been 10 years and now she's an adult. I will never scold her again.".
