New cast, same 'thrilling' story: Netflix unveils new behind the scenes look at 'The Crown'

The countdown is on for the debut of the third season of The Crown and we are so excited.

Ahead of its release, Netflix has unveiled a special behind the scenes look at what royal fans can expect from the new season, which welcomes an all-new cast.

Academy Award winner Olivia Colman takes over from Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, while Helena Bonham Carter portrays her sister Princess Margaret.

In the video The Crown’s creator Peter Morgan touches on how he wanted the transition of the new cast to feel "seamless" and that he had "no doubts" that Olivia could pull it off.

"It was just amazing to watch," he says. "The new cast didn’t bother me, it was how to make the new cast feel like it was the same show. I just wanted to feel it was seamless and I think it does."

"I was such a fan of season one and two, the writing is beautiful and I was thrilled to see that it had carried on being just as good," Olivia also added.

Also joining The Crown is Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles and Erin Doherty as Princess Anne.

The third season of the hit show will document the royal family’s "struggle to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing Britain".

"From cold-war paranoia, through to the jet-set and the space age - the exuberance of the 1960s and the long hangover of the 1970s - Elizabeth and the Royals must adapt to a new, more liberated, but also more turbulent world," Netflix describes the plot of the show.

The Crown's third season debuts on Netflix this Sunday, November 17.
