Bohemian Rhapsody may have taken home some of the Oscar’s biggest awards, but it was the star of the new Elton John biopic who stole the night.

During the music icon’s annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party, Taron Egerton – who is set to play a young Elton in the upcoming Rocketman movie – performed the hit track, Tiny Dancer, with the man himself.

The British performer accompanied on the piano while Taron took the lead, later duetting through the song’s chorus.

The unforgettable moment came after an auction for a trip to London to attend the premiere of Rocketman when Elton welcomed the 29-year-old actor to the stage.

Taron then took the crowd by surprise when he agreed to sing one of Elton’s songs, but only if the 71-year-old joined him.

… And we are so glad he did!

Rocketman, directed by Dexter Fletcher, is set to be released in New Zealand cinemas on May 30.
