If you’re a fan of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, you have George Michael to thank.

The singer, who would've turned 55 on Monday, was the original guest on an early version of the segment.

Starting back in 2011, George and James collaborated on a sketch for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day special.

During the sketch, James attempts to save the day by driving the former Wham! star to the fundraising event.

After the comedian offends George, the two bury the hatchet by singing along to Wham's "I'm Your Man."

"It was the first time I'd sung in a car with anybody," Corden revealed.

"It's become quite a big part of my life now, and he inspired it."
