Remember the heartwarming tale of a young boy who made best friends with an Orca whale and spent a whole movie trying to save him from captivity?

Jason James Richter (who was 13 at the time) played troublesome 12-year-old Jesse in the 1993 film.

But, naturally, time has passed and the actor who played the pre-teen is about to turn 37 in just two days!

And we have to say he's still as cute as we remember.

Jason took an eight-year break from acting between 2001 and 2009, during which he played bass guitar in the band Fermata.

But now the star is making a movie comeback, with several films in post-production, due to be released this year.

Jason's also been writing, directing and producing his own films - and judging by his recent snaps, he's also sporting some impressive facial hair.

He also appeared in Sabrina The Teenage Witch and guest starred as a voice in Rugrats.
