A dog managed to walk 200 miles across Russia in order to be reunited with the nurse who saved her life.

Shavi was a stray who was living on the streets when she was struck by a car and left for dead in a hit and run incident. She was left with two broken legs among other serious injuries.

They left her to die, however two pedestrians noticed her by the side of the road and took her to a vet. They then began a search online to find someone who could nurse her back to health.

Nina Baranovskaya was the only one who replied, according to Russian media.

After her operation, Nina nursed the dog back to health but was not able to care for Shavi for the long-term due to her job, her small flat and her family commitments.

She found her a loving home around 185 miles away. But just a few days later, the dog went missing.

Her new owners rang Nina up explaining that she'd gone missing and she was obviously upset. However, she hoped she would be rescued or return to her new home.

However, Shavi had it all planned out.

According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, she was walking along the road when she felt something touch her leg. When she looked down, she realised it was Shavi.

Experts estimate it must have taken Shavi more than a week to walk back to Rostov.

Nina's now looking for a bigger flat so that they can stay together.
