Facebook Just Took Away Your Excuse For Not Attending Social Events

When it comes to attending social events, serial flakers might find Facebook 's newest update a bit irritating.

The giant social network has removed the option to respond with "maybe" to public events.

It's the latest in a series of updates that have also seen the introduction of Facebook Reactions as an alternative to the rumoured "dislike" button.

Facebook has replaced the "maybe" option with an "interested" one and the update is rolling out this week.

According to the social network, the move is designed to help event organisers better gauge the amount of people who may - or may not - show up.

Facebook is also reportedly working on a feature that will allow you to see who's seen your event invite .

The good news for fence-sitters is that when it comes to private events, Facebook is leaving the "maybe" option in place, for now.
