Elvis is an undeniable music icon, and now his story will be hitting the big screen.

The very first trailer for the upcoming Elvis biopic has been unveiled and it looks absolutely amazing.

Directed by visionary filmmaker Baz Luhrmann - known for his work on films such as The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge! - ELVIS tells the American star’s life story and rise to fame.

The role of Elvis is taken on by Austin Butler, while Oscar winner Tom Hanks stars alongside him as Elvis' enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

The flick also stars the likes of Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, Luke Bracey, Natasha Bassett, David Wenham, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Xavier Samuel and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS is set to hit Kiwi movie theatres later this year on June 23.
