Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling spotted in neon 80s outfits shooting new 'Barbie' movie

Filming for the highly-anticipated live-action Barbie movie is well underway and the stars of the flick have been spotted in full Barbie-doll getup.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling were seen rollerblading down Venice Beach in California wearing matching 80s neon active wear for a scene from the upcoming Barbie film, recreating one of Barbie’s many iconic looks.

Aside from Margot and Ryan, Greta Gerwig’s movie about Mattel, Inc.'s iconic will also see a number of actors take on the role of Ken - including Marvel star Simu Liu - and Issa Rae among other actresses to play Barbie.

The fashion doll was created by late businesswoman Ruth Handler in 1959 and while Barbie has since gone on to inspire a slew of animated movies - and appeared in Disney Pixar's 'Toy Story' series - this is the first the time she will be brought to life in a live-action movie on the big screen.

Margot previously teased fans that the flick will be "totally different" from whatever they may expect.

She said: "Something like Barbie where the [intellectual property], the name itself, people immediately have an idea of, 'Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,' but our goal is to be like 'Whatever you're thinking, we're going to give you something totally different - the thing you didn't know you wanted!'"

The cast will also feature former Ugly Betty star America Ferrera and Rhea Perlman - who is known for her appearances in Cheers and Matilda - although their roles are yet to be disclosed, while Will
Ferrell will appear as the CEO of a toy company.

Barbie is set to be released on July 21, 2023.
