Meghan, Duchess of Sussex allegedly “sobbed on the floor” after a row with Princess Catherine over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid’s dress.

Prince Harry, 38, made the claim while opening up for the first time on how his niece, now seven, was apparently left crying following the alleged argument between his wife and Catherine, 41, four days before his 2018 wedding to Meghan, also 41.

Harry said Catherine, now Princess of Wales, sent Meghan a text that said: “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on at home.”

He also claimed Catherine was unwilling to meet Meghan’s tailor at Kensington Palace and the two women exchanged terse texts about the matter four days before his wedding to Meghan.

Their exact text exchange is alleged as follows:

Kate: Charlotte’s dress is too big. Too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on at home.

Meghan: Right. And I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8am. Here. At KP. Can you take Charlotte to have it altered, as the other mums are doing?

Kate: No. All the dresses need to be remade.

Meghan: I’m not sure what else to say. If the dress doesn’t fit then please take Charlotte to see Ajay. He’s been waiting all day.

Kate: Fine.

Harry said in his memoir Spare: “Meg asked if Kate was aware of what was going on right now. With her father.

“Kate said she was well aware, but the dresses. And the wedding is in four days!... Meg didn’t reply to Kate straight away.

“Yes, she had endless wedding-related texts, but mostly she was dealing with the chaos surrounding her father.

“So the next morning she texted Kate that our tailor was standing by. A short time later I arrived home and found Meg on the floor. Sobbing.

“I was horrified to see her so upset, but I didn’t think it a catastrophe. Emotions were running high, of course, after the stress of the last week, the last month, the last day.

“It was intolerable but temporary. Kate hadn’t meant any harm, I told her.”

Harry also said the following day Catherine arrived with a bouquet of flowers and apologised to Meghan.

He also claims this sister-in-law had “problems with the way Meg was planning her wedding. Something about a party for the page boys? It went back and forth.”

At the time of the alleged row, Meghan was in the midst of drama with her dad Thomas Markle, who had been caught setting up staged paparazzi photos ahead of the wedding.

Previous reports about the incident said Meghan had made Catherine cry over the dress-fitting fight, with Buckingham Palace officials allegedly refusing to issue a public statement disputing such reports.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry says he "never intended" to hurt his family with the release of his tell-all book.

The royal - who is the son of King Charles and his late former wife Princess Diana - moved to LA with his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in 2020 in search of a private life after officially stepping down from The Firm and is set to release his bombshell memoir 'Spare' about his experience as part of The Firm but insisted he will "always love" his family.

He said: "I love my father, I love my brother and I love my family. I always do. Nothing of what I have done in this book or otherwise has ever been of any intention to harm them or hurt them. The truth is something."

Harry - who is father to Archie, three, and 20-month-old Lili with the former 'Suits' actress - added that he needs to "rely on the truth"  when it comes to describing his relationship with the tabloid press and certain members of the family.

Speaking on ITV's 'Harry: The Interview', he told Tom Bradby: "I need to rely on and after many many years of lies being told about me and my family there comes a point, certain members of the family have decided to do better the devil. To rehabilitate their image. If you need to do that or you want to do that, that's a choice but the moment that that rehabilitation comes at the detriment of others then that is where I draw the line. If you wanna do that, then you can do that."
