First look at the brand new remake of 'Little Women' has us head over heels

The very first trailer had been unveiled for the new adaptation of Little Women and we are already in love.

The film – based on the famous Louisa May Alcott novel – features a star-studded cast of Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep.

Set in 1860s New England, in the aftermath of the American Civil War, Little Women is a coming of age tale about the four March sisters.

Greta Gerwig, known for her award-winning movie Lady Bird, takes the helm of the classic story's eighth cinema rendition.

While the Little Women has been told both on stage and TV, this is the first big-screen version since Gillian Armstrong's 1994 movie - which won three Academy Awards and starred the likes of Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, Samantha Mathis, Susan Sarandon and Christen Bale as Laurie.

Little Women is set to hit New Zealand cinemas from January 2, 2020.
