Kiwi star Melanie Lynskey talks hit show 'Yellowjacks' and what she misses about NZ

If you haven't watched the hit TV show Yellowjackets yet, you're missing out on one of the most suspenseful thrillers of our time! And guess what? One of the lead actors is none other than the amazing Kiwi actress Melanie Lynskey. 

Yellowjackets follows a group of young girls who survive a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness. The show flashes between the present-day adult lives of the survivors and their past as teenage girls stranded in the wilderness. You'll be on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns! 

Melanie Lynskey stars as the present-day version of Shauna, one of the survivors of the plane crash. Shauna is a complex character with a dark past, and Lynskey's portrayal of her is both captivating and chilling. Trust us, she's an absolute powerhouse! 

During her chat with Jono and Ben on The Hits, Melanie expressed her excitement about being a part of the series. “It's such a surprise honestly at this point in my life and career to have something that has taken off in the way this has so fun,” Melanie told Jono and Ben. 

Melanie also revealed to Jono and Ben that there are certain things she misses from New Zealand after living in the US for the last 23 years. 

“I also miss Vogels,” she admitted. “So, if anyone wants to ship me over some Vogels …" Well, Jono and Ben were quick to offer to send her some and any other treats she may want from Aotearoa. Melanie put in her request for “thin sliced sunflower seed Vogels” bread and of course, a bag of the classic Kiwi snack Pineapple Lumps. 

Melanie Lynskey has been acting for over two decades and has starred in numerous films and TV shows, including Two and a Half Men and more recently HBO’s The Last of Us. But it's her role in Yellowjackets that has really catapulted her into the spotlight. With her down-to-earth personality and relatable nature, it's no wonder fans around the world have fallen in love with her!
