Season four of Married At First Sight Australia has gained a lot of attention in the last few weeks, and is jam packed with drama.

But previous seasons of the show aren't exactly drama-free, as one of the previous MAFS husbands is now facing assault charges.

Lachlan Rofe, who also appeared on The Farmer Wants A Wife, is in court facing accusations that he choked his former partner.

The victim says the attack occurred last year in front of her young daughter at Lachlan’s house in Sydney.

She says he chased her through the house, began screaming at her and grabbed her by the neck.

Court transcripts allege he had drunk a full case of beer on the day in question.

He's pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The case will continue in July.
