Ed Sheeran has taken to Facebook this morning to tease a possible New Zealand tour.

The Shape of You singer posted a picture of his new album cover with the symbols of a kiwi and a kangaroo with the caption "news soon x."

Sheeran's fans quickly suggested the chart-topping pop star was hinting at a down under tour.

"Ahhhh the man himself has spoken !!!!!!!! I can't wait !!!!!" says one fan.

"Something in the South Island of NZ would be great...not holding my breath."

And "whoop whoop, Love that Ed can't tour without NZ on the itinerary and I that suits me just fine!!"

The 26-year-old has performed in New Zealand a few times, and he was here last year for a 'gap year' when he took a break from music.

Sheeran has always been fond of our country and has once said he wanted to become a citizen.

He played to a sold out show at Mount Smart Stadium the last time he toured here.
