Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has been slammed after he hit out parents who let their teenage daughters post selfies on social media.

Speaking to Lifestyle News Hound, Oliver revealed that his 14-year-old daughter Daisy is “banned” from taking selfies, before describing teen girls' use of Instagram as "frightening".

The father-of-five said: "From my observation so far, at 13 to 14, the kind of pictures that girls are putting up, just from what I've seen, split off 50:50 - normal young girl, and then this weird hybrid of - dare I say it - quite porno sort of luscious kind of pouty lips, sort of pushing boobs out."

"I'm like, 'Oh my god!'" he continued. "I don't even want to look at some of the things my daughter shows me."

"I'm like, 'Really? Aren't their parents all over that like a rash?'”

But the 42-year-old’s moral crusade has left many angry.

One fan commented: "Jamie Oliver banning his daughter from taking selfies is a really toxic decision. Parents shouldn't teach kids to be ashamed of their bodies. The problem revolves around the sexualisation of young people, and that's what needs to be challenged."

Another added: "Jamie Oliver is a twisted sexist arsehole and I hope his daughter learns elsewhere that it's cool to aspire to like yourself and how you look."

"Forty-two year old men who refer to fourteen year old girls as "this weird hybrid of ... quite porno sort of luscious kind of pouty lips, sort of pushing boobs out" are the problem here, not the selfies. Stop sexualising children," a third wrote.
