Living to see your 100th birthday may seem out of reach - but taking on the food and lifestyle habits from the healthiest countries around the world could make it more attainable.

Researchers have zoned in on five regions in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the US where people lead full lives past 100 years.

Some of the most common habits these unique people practise include:

- A diet of real food of mostly plants, close to nature. Ancient whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables go down a treat.

- Instead of working up a sweat at the gym, incorporating more natural movement into your daily life is preferred.

- Eating mindfully until you're 80 per cent full helps with portion control and stops overeating.

- Strong family bonds and friendships support health and positivity, as well as reduce stress.

Putting these things into practice could see you living a longer, healthier and happier life - maybe even until you're 100.
