Kiwi handwriting expert reveals what your handwriting says about your personality

It turns out your handwriting can tell more about you than you think.

After talking about the dying art of handwriting, Megan and Estelle decided to see if they could get in touch with a handwriting expert on The Hits 3pm Pick Up.

They managed to track down Mike Maran, who is one of only two bonafide Graphologists in New Zealand.

Mike knows all there is to know about the analyses of handwriting and how it can ascertain someone's character. He picked up his magnifying glass to break down Megan and Estelle’s scrawl … and the results were kind of hilarious!

While the majority of Mike’s work is actually forensic handwriting for lawyers and the police, he does dabble in analysing how handwriting shows each person’s unique personality signature (pun intended).

“Remember, 25 per cent of what I say may be incorrect because your writing changes according to your personal and emotional circumstances,” Mike prefaced before jumping into Megan and Estelle’s scribbles.

“For Megan, the writing is quite unique. I would say, extroverted and talkative. Looks forward to the future. Artistic tendencies or interests. Strong money and material interest,” Mike said about Megan’s “long” handwriting style.

“Enjoys being the centre of attraction, likes being in the limelight. I feel very targeted cultural and literary abilities and interests,” he continued. “Good degree of planning and method and then I've got here one that's a little bit dicey, strong romantic inclinations.”

As for Estelle’s handwriting, Mike said it showed that she is: "Emotionally controlled may not display emotions in public. Links more strongly in her past. Can be talkative, but likes to have a rest or recharge [her] mind when she's finished work. Maybe like to recharge your batteries and have a mental rest from work when you get home.”

“Signature denotes one publicly generous and outgoing, but the handwriting denotes one who values her privacy,” Mike added.

“You're a little bit low in aspirations and ambitions. Memory, okay. Adequate mental and physical energy. Easy to get along with generally cooperative work, mate.”

Megan and Estelle were both blown away by how bang-on Mike’s analysis was.

“To me looking at writings, like looking at a piece of art,” Mike explained.

“Of course, it takes years of training to actually look at somebody's writing and to get a character analysis, because if you get it horribly wrong, then it can backfire on you.”
